Sourced from all over the world including the UK. One of the most popular timbers for hardwood flooring. Very distinctive straight grain pattern, fairly uniform in colour although different species will vary, i.e. American White Oak (Quercus Alba) can be quite grey whereas, Red Oak (Quercus Rubra) is pinkish in colour. European Oak (Quercus Robur) tends to be between the two and largely light brown in colour. Strong, durable takes all types of finishes very well. Particularly good for staining. High stability. Has the ability to appeal to both contemporary and traditional styles.
