American Walnut
(Juglans Nigra)

A beautiful fruitwood that is grown throughout the United States and Canada, although mostly along the eastern seaboard. It varies in colour from rich dark brown heartwood through silvery grey (almost black in parts) to nearly white sapwood. It has lovely variable grain patterns, which are not unlike the sort of patterns one sees in the veneers in some very expensive car dashboards! Highly dimensionally stable, very durable and will take oils, lacquers, waxes and polyurethanes equally well.
